Executive Director
In 2022, Dr. Edwan L. O’Neal transitioned into the role of the Executive Director for the Tennessee Valley Diversity Leadership Colloquium (DLC). In this position, he oversees and manages all aspects of the Diversity Leadership Colloquium and works directly with the Alumni Association Executive Committee.
Dr. Edwan L. O’Neal is employed as the Program Director and FSO for Technology Management Training Group, Incorporated (TMT Group, Inc). He is a proficient, innovative, administrator with diversified experience in higher education, technical assistance training, and government contracts. His career spans over seventeen years as an administrator in higher education within the student affairs division. He has served in various capacities at public and private institutions, to include HBCUs, PWIs, and the 2-year college. Dr. O’Neal possesses extensive knowledge specifically in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion, student life, TRIO federal programs, educational program outreach, residential life, Greek Life, grants and contracts, training and development, programming, organizational leadership, policy management and community relations.
Dr. O’Neal has consulted and provided leadership training for many organizations and agencies. He has partnered with local school districts providing educational programs and diversity training for faculty and staff. He is an alumnus of the Tennessee Valley Diversity Leadership Colloquium Cohort IV and a graduate of the Leadership Huntsville/ Madison County Connect Class 9. Dr. O’Neal is actively involved in the community working with several organizations and non-profits. He currently serves on the board of directors for Energy Alabama and other educational advisory boards and committees throughout the local community. He is also an active member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Dr. O’Neal earned his Associate’s Degree in Business Technology from Alabama Southern, Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Master’s Degree in Counseling/Psychology, both from the University of West Alabama. He completed his Doctorate Degree in Higher Education Administration and Leadership from Walden University.
Over the years, Dr. O’Neal has served on committees and volunteered with the National Association for Student Affairs Professional (NASAP) and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). He has provided research and programming information for the National Conference on Student Leadership (NCSL), National Association for Campus Activities (NACA), American Student Government Association (ASGA), Association for Campus Programming Activities (ACPA), and Association for Fraternal and Leadership Values (AFLV). He served as the chairperson for Student Initiatives and a graduate of the Emerging Leaders Institute from the Alabama Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (AAEOPP).
