Justin Lorenzo York was born and raised in Mobile, AL to Rev. Marlene Calloway and Lavada York. He is
the middle child of four. Justin is a product of the Mobile County School Public School System. He is the
2004 Valedictorian of Mattie T. Blount High School (Prichard, AL). In the Fall of 2008, he received his
Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with an option in Propulsion Systems from
Alabama A&M University (Normal, AL). During his undergraduate years, Justin represented his
sophomore and senior classes as president in the Student Government Association.
Justin is a member of St. John AME Church (Huntsville, AL). As a member of St. John, Justin has served
on the Trustee Board, with the Soup Kitchen Ministry, Hospitality Ministry, in the Church School, Sons of
Allen Men’s Ministry, and is an ordained Itinerate Deacon. Justin has been employed with Huntsville
Utilities for fifteen (15) years. Prior to graduation from Alabama A&M University, Justin was employed
by Huntsville Utilities as a CADD Operator. He was later promoted to Engineer in the Water Engineering
Department and now works as a Key Account Representative in Customer Care. As a member of the Key
Accounts Department, Justin establishes and maintains positive relationships and advocacy with
Huntsville Utilities’ major commercial and strategic accounts while proactively assessing account needs
through consistent, direct customer contact. In this role, he also analyzes customer operations,
consumption data, and billing history to identify trends and promote efficiency and productivity for
Huntsville Utilities’ customers. Justin is a member of the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of
Commerce Ambassadors Program, National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and South Huntsville
Main Business Association. Recently, Justin was selected as one of two secretaries for Huntsville Utilities
Stronger Together (H.U.S.T), an internal Huntsville Utilities women’s empowerment and encouragement committee.
